Music playing ~ "Here Comes the Sun"

A Special Dream

Jodi's mind began to wander dreamily and she felt she was getting close to something. She heard beautiful music and although it was all very strange Jodi wasn't afraid. Suddenly Jodi was surrounded by beautiful blue skies, fluffy clouds and the sound of giggling! Never had she heard such funny giggles (even from Dr. Nick). Movement caught her eye as she saw four prairie dogs giggling and dancing so hard she couldn't help but laugh too!

"Where am I?", Jodi asked. The happy-go-lucky prairie dogs all chimed together, "You're just outside Rainbow Bridge!!" Jodi was confused and as if reading her mind the prairie dogs said, "You're here in a dream but trust us, it's REAL! You'll only be here a few minutes but you'll leave knowing there is a Rainbow Bridge!  With that the prairie dogs scampered off so Jodi, not sure what else to do, followed.

As Jodi followed the giggling prairie dogs she began to wonder if she was going to see Blazer. Before she could give it much thought she found herself nearing a meadow. The grass was bright green and the flowers were shining with beautiful color! There was a gentle breeze which carried the aroma of each and every flower petal to her nose. Tall trees lined a river which sparkled brighter than diamonds. Off in the distance Jodi could see a bridge with lots of animals running and playing. Jodi stepped onto the soft green grass which tickled her feet and walked over to the river. She looked down and saw fish and plant life everywhere! Jodi couldn't get over the beautiful colors of the fish and how the water sparkled in the sunlight. A slight scratching sound caught Jodi's attention.

"Wow! Who are you?", Jodi asked a cat who appeared out of nowhere. "The name's Montique. Montique B. Catnipper, glad to meet you Jodi! Welcome to the outskirts of Rainbow Bridge. Now, if I could only get this cloud fluffed up the way I want it...", the comical cat grumbled.

"Umm, it's nice to meet you too Montique. What am I doing here? Are we really near Rainbow Bridge and if we are then where is Blazer? I thought Rainbow Bridge was for pets, why did I see prairie dogs and fish?"

"Whoa there little lady, one question at a time! Rainbow Bridge is a place for ALL animals no matter if they were pets or if they lived in the wild while on earth. We all live here in harmony. Some animals cross over the Bridge when their humans arrive but some stay right here and greet newcomers. As for Blazer, don't worry, you'll see him soon!"

Jodi looked off into the distance and watched the animals play. There were dogs, cats, birds, lizards, tigers and horses and more, all playing together and enjoying the warm sunshine. Jodi thought it was so special that these animals could be such good friends here in the land of love.

Jodi was enjoying the animals as they played near the distant Bridge but she couldn't help but feel a little sad for not having seen her best friend Blazer. Suddenly the sky lit up with all the colors of the rainbow and there, right in front of Jodi, was her beloved Blazer!! "Oh Blazer!! You are here, you really are at Rainbow Bridge! I miss you so much Blaze, why did you have to leave me?" Jodi felt the tears sting her eyes.

Blazer Under the Rainbow

Blazer looked at Jodi and answered in a deep but gentle voice. "I miss you too Jodi but it was my time to go. I don't know why but I'm sure glad that Rainbow Bridge is here so I have a nice place to stay until we are together again. I'm happy and healthy and I don't have cancer anymore! If you think about it Jodi, I really haven't gone very far. Only as far as your thoughts and dreams. Even though it still hurts that I'm gone, just remember that everytime you think of me I'm near."

Jodi knew Blazer was right and it made her feel better to know that he was here at such a beautiful place and that he'd always be close to her no matter what. "Thank you Blaze for letting me see that Rainbow Bridge is real and that you're okay. I love you and that love will keep you in my heart always."

"It will be time for you to awaken soon. You've got a lot of work ahead of you." Blazer said with a chuckle. "Work? What do you mean work?" Jodi asked. "There is a puppy who needs the love you hold in your heart. I've already picked him out for you. Open your heart to him the way you did for me and he will love you forever. I love you Jodi!"

Jodi woke, sat up and rubbed her eyes. What a dream! Could she have possibly seen Blazer and a glimpse of Rainbow Bridge? What proof did she have? Jodi heard her mom call from the bottom of the stairs. She sounded very excited. "Jodi hurry, come down here!" She jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs and stopped in her tracks when she saw her father standing in the middle of the kitchen with a furry bundle in his arms.

"Look honey! Look what I found abandoned on the job site..."
